Great fun... I think I will make more of these!
"The Mother" is the name of the painting this drawing of me is looking at.
It was the first time I had worked in oils, way back in 1995 and I knew I was in love.
It became my a starting point when I picked up the brush again seriously to start the Jazz.
The collection "Visual Jazz" took on a life of its own but as you can see this painting had an influence.
The paint is the narrative: I am proud of my work on dyslexia. My dyslexia is my weekness and my strength.
The Paint is the Narrative. . .
Life has taught me many things.
None more important than the following
Treat others as you would like to be treated yourself.
Be TRUE to yourself and focus on ability.
Always find time to play.
Kind Regards Mike x
This is a copy of a large painting I made in 2002
called Top Banna.
I painted over it in 2005 as I needed a big canvas. I wanted to take the Jazz
to full abstraction.
My daughter Rosie was not happy about this and wished I hadn't...
So I re-painted it for her 18th birthday.
I like bannas & pop art...
Manchester 2008 Holden Gallary. Always the paint...
